Tobikusa, literally flying grass in Japanese

It is this tremor, this organic dynamic, that this series of works transposes through paper.

The artist meticulously chisels images into thin strips and, like fields of grass that sway and swirl in the wind in an almost orchestral movement, the paper quivers, vibrates and becomes a supple, almost fluid material. And it is a landscape in perpetual movement that poetically blurs the original image.

By summoning Tobikusa, the artist places the gaze in a liminal space: one where the visible disintegrates, where matter becomes a trace, where the ephemeral takes shape.
